Fix MSN Page opens on Startup of Windows 10 in Chrome

You might have noticed this when you use Chrome as the default browser on Windows 10: after loading Windows, once the connection to the network is successfully established, a familiar dialog pops up and asks ‘How do you want open this?’, with default browser Chrome pre-selected (check the below screenshot), if you click OK, MSN page opens in it. If you check the URL of the page, it will be like this:

The problem gets worse if you check ‘Always use this app’ on that dialog, which adds this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=219472&clcId=0x409 to the command line of Chrome shortcut. Visit chrome://version page to check if that’s also the case with you.

Once that happens, MSN page will automatically load in new tabs of Chrome randomly without your knowledge and sometimes. Chrome browser automatically launches without you opening it after the start of computer.

Open the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

Double click on EnableActiveProbing and change its value from 1 to 0.

Restart the computer.
